The Thorndale Town & Country Club met at the country home of Paula Johnson with Paula and her sister, Becky Hozak, as hostesses. Seven club members were present. Games of “What’s in Your Purse” were played with the winner receiving a cute jack-o-lantern bucket with several prizes inside.

A short business meeting followed the recreation where the club sent a sympathy card, a get-well card and thinking-of-you cards to members of the community in need of support. Various upcoming events were discussed and ways the club could support the community by participating, including Pack Pals, the downtown Christmas Display and Thorndale Cares.

The club enjoyed suppor ting the Thorndale Homecoming by baking cookies for the event. Also discussed were the upcoming election of officers and the club Christmas party. The club was also advised of the upcoming TVFD Auxiliary Turkey and Dressing dinner, the Thorndale Car Show on Nov. 12 and an estate sale for a former club member.

For their demonstration, Paula shared the meaning of the Halloween colors, her pitcher collection, cigar boxes used by her and her sister in school, the aprons worn by her and Becky, her converted wardrobe and her post office wine rack. Becky shared a Christmas tree made from two old saws held together by a metal star. Paula also gave a tour of her home since she has updated it recently.

The Town & Country Club meets once a month and is a service club that supports the community of Thorndale with various activities during the year. Keto support group meets Thursdays at 7

A keto support group meets at the First Baptist Church’s south entrance every Thursday at 7 p.m. A newcomers’ session will start at 6:30 p.m.

AA meeting weekly at Crossroads Church

Rockdale Peace Seekers AA meetings are at Crossroads Bible Church, 811 Burleson St.

The meetings are scheduled on Tuesdays and Sundays at 7:30 p.m.
