Town & County Club January meeting The Thorndale Town & Country Club met at the Pleasant Retreat home of Peggy Weise on Thurs., January 12. Following the club prayer, the members enjoyed playing Crazy Bingo with prizes for all winners.
A short business meeting followed the recreation where the club sent cards to community members in need of support. The club decided to join the Thorndale Area Chamber of Commerce, donate to the Thorndale Volunteer Fire Department, support the Down Home Ranch and make donations to Thorndale Cares in November.
New officers for 2023 are: President Paula Johnson, Vice-President Rosemary Lawrence, Secretary Darleen Tucker and Treasurer Peggy Weise.
For her demonstration, Peggy showed a crochet scarf with “WEISE” worked into the center. She also showed a quilt given to her mother-in-law, Mildred Weise, by club members. Mildred was a long-time member of the club, and the quilt has a center block with the inscription “President” and the dates of service. The blocks were embroidered with the names of club members, community members and friends of Mildred. The members enjoyed guessing how the names on the quilt were connected to Mildred.
The Town & Country Club meets once a month and is a service club that tries to support the community of Thorndale with various activities during the year. If anyone is interested in joining the club and helping with our service projects, you are invited to attend the next meeting. Please call Paula Johnson at 512-898-2863 or Darleen Tucker at 512-29-9089 for more information.
