Fair Association offers 2019 scholarship forms

The 2019 Rockdale Fair Association Scholarship application is now available on the website www.rockdalefairandrodeo.com.

Forms are also available at all Milam County high schools. See campus counselors for forms.

Deadline to enter is April

12.

Alcoa retirees to meet Thursday in Thorndale

First 2019 meeting of the Rockdale Alcoa Retirees will be Thursday, March 14, at the Thorndale VFW Hall, next door to Fireman’s Hall on FM

486.

Doors open at 5 p.m. with a business meeting at 5:45, with election of officers, and a meal at 6 p.m.

No silent auction, Dessert group is M-Z—Doug Williams, spokesman.

60-plus Girl Scouts gather at meeting

More than 60 Girl Scouts of Milam County, from Rock-dale, Cameron, Milano and Thorndale attended a recent monthly membership meeting at the Rockdale Community Room.

Three scouts, one each from Daisy, Brownie and Junior troops received “Golden Ticket” awards signifying “outstanding courage, character and imagination.”

Full names of the honored scouts were not available from the organization. They represented troops from Rockdale and Milano.

Scouts reviewed photos from their past year’s service which included volunteering at soup kitchens, food pantries and community events including Breakfast With Santa.

Badges and patches earned included robotics, astronomy, sewing, tea parties and cookie sales.
