O.J. Thomas 58th reunion August 12

The O.J. Thomas Alumni Community Resource Center will hold their 58th annual homecoming on Saturday, Aug. 12, with a tailgate party from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. and a barbecue lunch at noon.

A dance will be held in the cafeteria from 9 p.m. to 1 a.m. featuring Joe Tex II.

Historical Society meets second Tuesday

The Rockdale Historical Society holds their meetings on the second Tuesday of each month at the depot.

“Please come to the depot to see and hear what interesting and exciting things are going on,” volunteer Pat Watson said. All are welcome.

The depot is open on Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Sundays 1 p.m. to 4 p.m.

Summer aviation fun at the airport

Are you interested in aviation?

Kent Givens and Jimmy Cox will hold get-togethers on Tuesday at 6 p.m. throughout the summer for both adults and kids.

“We’ll talk about airplanes and maybe even go flying,” Givens said.

Cox already has a hands-on workshop for kids age nine and above on Saturdays at 9 a.m. in which they build an airplane with adult supervision.

Hours are 9 a.m. to noon Tuesdays through Friday.

There has been a rash of theft in the drop off area in the back of the store. It is recommended that donations be dropped off during business hours. Call to schedule a time for drop off at 512-446-5710.

AA meeting weekly at Crossroads Church

Rockdale Peace Seekers AA meetings are at Crossroads Bible Church, 811 Burleson St. The meetings are scheduled on Tuesdays and Sundays at 7:30 p.m.
