Matinee Music Club hears trumpet program
Trumpet selections by Rockdale musician Lee “Sparky” Thomason and Austin eighth grader Dante Koffler were highlights for the April meeting of the Matinee Musical Club.
Hostess was Leah Thoma-son while the meeting co-hostess was Victoria Everett St. John.
The club nominating committee submitted its slate of officers for the upcoming year as follows: Donnie Rinn, president; Mona Butala and Carl Butala, vice-presidents; Gloria Walker, treasurer; St. John, secretary; Annette Griesbach, parliamentarian.
M. Butala and Griesbach reported on a recent convention in Lubbock.

Historical Society seeks quilts for May 4 exhibit
The Rockdale Historical Society will host a quilt exhibit May 4 at the I&GN Historical Depot and is now accepting quilts to display.

Cameron Legion Post sets meal for veterans
CAMERON—Cameron American Legion Post 2010, and hits auxiliary, will host its second annual appreciation luncheon for all veterans on Sunday.
The luncheon will be held from 12:30 to 3 p.m. at the Ledbetter Park American Legion Hut on FM 1600.
A free meal will be provided and all veterans and Gold Star families are invited to attend.
No RSVP is required.
Speaker will be Col. (ret.) Troy Kelly, sculptor and designer of the Vietnam Veterans Memorial at the Veterans State Cemetery in Killeen and also the 5 November Memorial, also in Killeen.—Debbie McKimmey, adjutant for Rock-dale American Legion Carlyle Post 358.

Ticket sales continue for Terlingua diorama
CAMERON—Milam County Railroad Museum continues this week with the winner to receive a scale railroad diorama of the famous Terlingua ghost town in the Big Bend.
Donations may be made Monday through Friday at these Cameron locations: The Bling Box, Cameron Chamber of Commerce, Agrilife Extension Office and the Milam County Historical Museum.
Donation tickets are $5 each or 5 for $20. Drawing will be May 11 during National Train Day activities.
The railroad museum is open 10 to 4 Tuesdays and Saturdays.
More details will be announced at a later date.—
