Alcoa retirees slate meeting for June 13th

THORNDALE—The next meeting of Rockdale Alcoa Retirees will be Thursday, June 13 at the Thorndale VFW Hall, according to Doug Williams, organization president.

He said doors will open at 5 p.m. with a short business meeting around 5:45.

“Dessert group will be those with last names beginning with A through L,” he said.

Save Old City Hall group seeks photos

The Save the Old City Hall (STOCH) continues to be interested in the preservation of the 1895 building which, until last month, served as Rockdale’s police station.

Geri Burnett, STOCH member, said the group “requests and encourages” anyone with photos and/ or memories of the building to contact her at 512-446-5057.

“STOCH would like to collect the memories and share them at a later date,” she said.

Historical Commission set to meet Monday

The Milam County Historical Commission will meet at 10 a.m. Monday, according to Beth Books, spokesperson.

Meeting site is Sts. Cyril and Methodius Church, also known as Marak Catholic Church. It is located 6.5 miles north of Cameron on FM 2269.

Girl Scouts hear from Master Naturalists

MILANO—The El Camino Real Master Naturalists recently presented a program to Milano Girl Scout Troop 34006 at the Bird & Bee Farm.

Scouts were taught lessons about the environment and nature that helped them complete their Journey Badges.

Twenty-four people attended including two troop leaders and eight scouts.
