Music club wins awards for programs
The Matinee Musical Club of Rockdale was awarded $200 from the National Federation of Music Clubs in recognition of it’s folk and jazz music programs during the 2018-19 calendar year.
The club will use its winning for the 2019-20 music season, which begins in September.
Save old city hall group wants photos
The Save the Old City Hall (STOCH) group is interested in preserving the building which served as Rockdale’s police station and was erected in 1895.
Geri Burnett, STOCH member, said the group “requests and encourages” anyone with photos and/or memories of the building to contact her at 512-446-5057.
“STOCH would like to collect the memories and share them at a later date,” she said.
BBQ for Bow is set for Sunday at The Ranch
A benefit for cancer patient Kay Quinney Bow is scheduled for July 14 at The Ranch in Rockdale.
The benefit begins at 11 a.m.
It features a barbecue sale, with all the trimmings, a live auction and silent auction.
