Milano Senior Citizens Fundraiser Saturday

The annual fundraiser sponsored by the Milano Senior Citizens will be held on Nov. 23 at 7 p.m. at the Milano Civic Center. Kimberlee Leber, a Texas Gospel Blues singer/songwriter, will be performing.

Admission for adults will be $10, children 12 and under tickets are $5, and family packages are $17.50.

Doors will open and concessions will start at 6:00 pm. A variety of sandwiches and pies will be available for $2, and drinks and chips for $1.

The Kay Theater is looking for choirs to perform at the annual Christmas at the Kay on Dec. 1 at 3 p.m.

County Child Protective Services seeks sponsors

The Milam County Child Protective Services Board is requesting your help to sponsor a child for Christmas.

For a donation of $125 you will receive a child’s first name and a wish list completed by the foster parent or caseworker.

Milano ISD contest to provide yule cheer

MILANO—Milano ISD will host a contest between all grades for its annual Christmas Roundup, the proceeds from which will be distributed all over Milam County.

Class assignments are as follows: Pre-K and Kindergarten, shampoo and conditioner; 1st grade, bar soap; 2nd grade, toothpaste; 3rd grade, toothbrushes.

Fourth grade, deodorant; 5th grade, combs and brushes; 6th grade, toothbrushes; 7th grade, lotion, 8th grade, lip balm.

Ninth grade, toothpaste; 10th grade, bar soap; 11th grade, deodorant; and 12th grade shampoo and conditioner.

Deadline is Dec. 6.

Genealogical Society meeting on Tuesday

The Milam County Genealogical Society will meet Tuesday, Nov. 26, at 7 p.m. in the fellowship hall at First Presbyterian Church.

Beth Brooks will be in charge of the program. Members with surnames beginning with A through P will be in charge of refreshments.

Musical Club meets for trip through history

The Matinee Musical Club met at the library, to celebrate the Parade of American Music.

Hosts were Mary Ann Fenske, Annette Griesbach and Victoria Everett. Tami Stockton presented the program entitled “The USO …Korea and Vietnam.”

Pat Owen sang “These Boots Are Made For Walking” accompanied by Mary Jane Boyd on the piano. Annette Griesbach sang “I’ve Got My Love To Keep Me Warm,” accompanied by MMC’s newest member, Melissa Shipley on piano.

Matinee Musical Club is a member of the Texas and National Federation of Music Clubs.

Caregiver Support Group meets Thursday

The Rockdale Caregivers Support Group will meet Thursday 1:30-2:30 p.m. at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church classroom.

It welcomes anyone assisting another with care at home or in a facility.

If you are the primary caregiver, this group supports your efforts. Handouts and resources are discussed.
