A volunteer organization which has donated hundreds of thousands of dollars worth of items to Rockdale schools over the past 84 years has dissolved.
Following that announcement, on a unanimous vote last Wednesday, the Rockdale ISD school board voted to “disassociate” itself from the Rockdale Parent-Teacher Organization (P-TO).
“We are dissolving because of a lack of public support,” P-TO Treasurer Rachel Owens told The Reporter. “Two or three people just can’t keep it going.”
The disaffiliation from Rockdale ISD means the currently-organized P-TO, would not be able to use the Rockdale ISD name, or its facilities, if it attempted to stage any future events.
