CAMERON—The extended saga involving owners of a former Thorndale business came to an end Thursday in 20th District Court when Steven and Tammy Dorsett, aged 49 and 53, pleaded guilty to felony theft.
The couple, residents of San Marcos, had been accused of bilking customers of Cowboy Refl ections Mercantile by not filling orders for merchandise ordered by persons from across the United States.
Each was assessed 10 years deferred adjudication probation and ordered to make full restitution, to be determined at a hearing in May.
“There are approximately 50 victims and $100,000 in damage,” Prosecutor Bill Torrey said. In addition, Steven Dorsett was given a 396-day and Tammy Dorsett a 294-day county jail term as a condition of probation.
Torrey said anyone who was a victim of the couple should contact Trish Vargas at the prosecutor’s office, 254-697-7013.
The investigation was led by Thorndale Police Chief Martin Jackson and the Texas Attorney General’s Office.
The Dorsetts were arrested several times during the probe, the final ones coming in 2015.
