Rockdale police believe the shooting death of a 28-year-old local woman early Monday morning was a suicide but said early Wednesday no official determination had been made.
Police Chief Thomas Harris identified the deceased woman as Kelsey Marie Chudej.
“I don’t believe an autopsy has yet been performed,” he said at presstime Wednesday.
Harris said police received a call about the shooting at 12:13 a.m. Monday and went to a Cordova Drive location to find the woman dead from a gunshot wound.
Justice of the Peace Sam Berry pronounced her dead at the scene.
“We are pretty confident this was self-inflicted,” Harris said. “But we won’t make any official conclusions until we have all the results back from the autopsy and end the investigation.”
