POLICE REPORT
Rockdale Police are investigating a report of a $5,000 forged check.
Lt. Stephen Goodrich said police were notified by the owner of a convenience store who found that expenditure in banking records.
“We were able to determine a store check had been taken, forged and then passed,” he said. “The case remains under investigation.”
ARRESTS—Goodrich said a reported burglary of a building involved a recently terminated employee, who was alleged to have returned to the place of business with several items reported missing.
Kevin Leo Rubio, 31, of Rockdale, was charged with burglary of a building. Bond information was not available from the Milam County Jail.
Two persons were arrested on warrants during the past week by Rockdale police.
Rebecca Suzanne Waring, 35, of Lufkin, was charged with probation violation on a charge of dangerous drug in a warrant issued by the Angelina County Sheriff’s Office.
Samantha Lynn Smith, 26, of Milano was charged with probation violation on a charge of theft of property with two or more previous convictions and probation violation on theft of property with previous convictions on Milam County warrants.
OFFENSES—Offenses reported to the Milam County Sheriff’s Department during the past week included burglary of a building burglary of a vehicle, theft, injury to a child, disorderly conduct/indecent exposure (public urination), duty upon striking vehicle, possession of marijuana (less than two ounces) and public intoxication.
ACCIDENT—Police reported one traffic accident during the past week, that coming at 12:07 a.m. Monday in the Walmart parking lot.
Police listed one driver as Sabrina Vega of Rockdale and did not provide detailed information about the other vehicle. Damages were termed moderate.
CITATIONS—Police issued 26 citations during the past week, including 15 for speeding, five for expired registration, two for running a stop sign and one each for failure to signal turn, failure to yield right of way for emergency vehicle, failure to maintain financial responsibility and failure to change address/name.
SERVICE CALLS—Officers responded to 194 total calls for service during the past week and there were 90 calls received through the 911 emergency system.
