On June 21 Post Oak Savannah Groundwater Conservation District (POSGCD) will host an event at the Caldwell Civic Center entitled “Groundwater Rights for Real Estate for Realtors, Brokers, Title Companies, and Interested Local Landowners.”

The event will feature Dr. Charles Porter, one of the foremost experts in Texas Water Rights; Bobby Bazan, POSGCD Water Specialist; and POSGCD General Manager Gary Westbrook.

As more and more land is being sold in our area, we want to provide increased understanding of how Texas groundwater laws and district rules affect the water rights of local landowners.

Some of the questions that will be answered are “Who owns the water under your land?”, “Do I need to register my well when I buy property?”, “Is there water under my land and what is the quality?”, “Why does a Groundwater Conservation District allow water to be shipped outside the counties?” and many more.

The speakers will provide the answers to these and many other questions concerning groundwater and property rights for landowners.

Doors open at 11 a.m. with a BBQ lunch served at 11:30 a.m.

Charles Porter will speak at 11:30 on Water Rights and Real Estate followed by information on Groundwater District Rules that affect landowners and Programs that benefit landowners in Burleson and Milam Counties.

“We will have time for you to get your water rights questions answered by experts, all at no cost to you. Please pre-register by Friday, June 17, so we will have plenty of food,” said Westbrook. Register at www.posgcd.org/education/.

This event will be in addition to the annual Groundwater Summit which will be on Aug. 18 and our programs on rainwater harvesting, water smart landscape design and irrigation training to conserve and preserve groundwater.
