—The 19th Century stained glass window, preserved from the Dr. Rob Wallis house in March, 2017, has been fully restored and was moved to the city library last week. The partially burned house was razed last year but a number of items were saved through the efforts of the Milam County Historical Society. This stained glass was the showpiece of the restoration effort. It was taken to the library by city workers including James Barnett (L) and Frankie Flores and is being stored there until it can be included in a display. The Wallis house was generally regarded as Rockdale’s oldest, dating back to the 1870s. It was partially destroyed in a Jan. 19, 2016, fire and razed to make room for the new police station now under construction. See page 1A.
