Unofficial Milam County election results were released at about 10 p.m. Tuesday night.
REPUBLICANS District Attorney— Assistant D.A. Brian Price had a great night winning 59.27% (2,381 votes) to win the District Attorney race over Cameron Police Chief Lonnie Gosch’s 40.73% (1,636 votes). Price will replace current D.A. Bill Torrey who is retiring this year.
Tax Assessor-Collector— There will be a runoff between Frank Summers and Melissa Fritz as neither received 50% of the vote. Summers ended the evening at 44.12% (1,772) to Fritz’s 28.01% (1,142). Stephanie Charanza received 27.44% of the votes (1,1012).
Constable Pct. 1— Zack Burks won this race with 57.48% of the votes (592) over Oscar Lopez with 42.52% (438).
Constable Pct. 2— Four people were vying for this position and there will be a runoff between Richard Doug Veach (42.58%, 353 votes) and Carlton R. Scott (25.81%, 214 votes). Amanda Sanders Duncan received 23.28% (193) and Candice Staton 8.32% (69).
State Representative District 17— Stan Gerdes easily won this race with 61.30% (2,482) over Tom Glass with 38.70% (1,576).
United States Representative District 17— Pete Sessions won his race with 84.33% (3,443) against Joseph T. Lagrone with 15.67% (640).
United States Senator— Ted Cruz easily won Milam County with 89.38% (37.16).
President— Former President Donald J. Trump won Milam County with 84.36% (3,575). Nikki Haley was a distant second with 11.63% (493).
Unopposed— Milam County races that were unopposed include Milam County Sheriff Mike Clore, District Judge 20th Judicial District John W. Youngblood, County Commissioner Pct. 1 Henry “Hub” Hubnik, County Commissioner Pct. 3 Art Neal, Constable Pct. 3 Jay Bethard, Constable Pct. 4 Kirby Shoemake and Republican County Chair Rebecca Luckey.
Propositions— All propositions
on the Republican primary ballot easily passed.
DEMOCRATS
There were no local Milam County races in the primary for the Democrats.
President— President Joseph R. Biden Jr. won Milam County with 86.59% (381).
United States Senator— There will be a runoff between Colin Allred with 37.85% (162) and Roland Gutierrez with 20.56% (88).
United States Representative District 17— Running unopposed Mark Lorenzen.
State Representative District 17— Desiree Venable running unopposed.
