At the last school board meeting held on Oct. 17, the board recognized the district’s four principals for National Principal Month. The Superintendent read the 2022 Texas Governor's Proclamation acknowledging Principals Month.

CON V ENT ION— The board reported on the 2022 TASA/TASB Convention they recently attended. Dr. Monzingo and board members shared their experiences from sessions that included: Teacher Incentive Allotment, Teacher Retention, Mental Health Awareness, and more.

TELPAS SCORES— The board heard a report from Dell Giles about TELPAS Scores. The scores represent growth in students learning English. Dr. Giles reported that our district scored six percentage points above the target percentage.

W E D N E S D A Y SCHEDULE— The superintendent gave an update about the new Wednesday scheduling that began this school year. She shared input from teachers she met with from all campuses. The district will continue to review the Wednesday sessions based on input and make revisions as needed.

PROCEDURES— The board approved the 20222023 Board Operating Procedures. These procedures were revised at the board training session on Sept. 28. The board approved an update to local board policy. The only change in this update was the start time of monthly board meetings from 5:30 p.m. to a new start time of 6 p.m.

PURCHASES— New equipment purchases were approved by the board for the Child Nutrition Department including two serving lines for junior high, 10 milk boxes for all campuses and steamers for intermediate and elementary.

FINANCIAL REPORT— The Board accepted the findings of the annual financial report for 2021-22, as presented by Singleton, Clark & Company, PC. Rockdale ISD received a “clean report,” with no findings.
