Matinee Musical Club is the host of May’s First Friday Coffee at the Lucy Hill Patterson Memorial Library this Friday, May 5.

The coffee runs from 9 to 10:30 a.m. and all are welcome.

Pulley benefit

Saturday

Brookshire Brothers will hold a crawfish and shrimp boil benefit to raise money for long-time store manager Jerry Pulley on May 4 from 11 a.m. until sold out.

Pulley has been with the company for 32 years. He has recently been diagnosed with two brain tumors and is currently undergoing treatment.

Plates are $15 and include crawfish, shrimp, corn, potatoes and sausage.

Countryman benefit underway

Phyllis and Jesse Countryman of Milano recently lost their home and all contents to a fire. Rockdale Postmaster Marlis Eiland Davidson and Brooke Graham are accepting clothing and household donations at the Rockdale Post Office. Needed are men’s clothes size 42x32 and shoe size 13, women’s clothes 16/18 pants and extra-large shirts and size 8 1/2 shoes.

There will also be a benefit for the couple at The Ranch on June 1.

Rockdale

MDD board opening

The Rockdale MDD is accepting applications for a member of the Board of Directors. The mission of the MDD is to aid the City of Rockdale in making the community a better place to live, work and do business.

Any registered voter living within the Rockdale Independent School district is eligible to apply for board membership. Applications are available at www.rockdaletx.gov or www.rockdalemdd.org.

Applications will be accepted through Friday, May 17.
