Roddam sworn in as mayor during meeting
Ward Roddam was sworn in as Rockdale’s mayor at Monday night’s city council meeting by City Secretary Shanna Johnson.
Roddam is f inishing former mayor Brett Boren’s term and another election will be held in May of 2025.
Wooden swing auction at Brookshire’s
Tickets for a heavy wooden swing with frame are being auctioned off by both the Rockdale and Cameron Brookshire Brothers for $5 each to raise money for Jerry Pulley.
Pulley is a 32-year employee who has worked at both those locations and the one in Giddings, and is currently battling brain cancer.
Father’s Day barbecue in Cameron
American Legion Edwin Hardy Post 9 in Cameron will hold its annual Fathers’ Day Barbecue on Sunday, June 16 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the post’s home in Ledbetter Park.
Tickets are $15 each and are available from many American Legion members, at General Mercantile and Antiques on the square in downtown Cameron or by calling 254-482-0834.
Tickets will be available at the door only if there are leftovers from pre-sales. This event is being catered by Thorndale Meat Market. Plates are all to-go.
