Meadowbrook hosts Operation Christmas Child
Meadowbrook Baptist Church will host an Operation Christmas Child informational event at 10 a.m. next Saturday, Aug. 24, in the fellowship hall.
“There will be a guest speaker from Operation Christmas Child, refreshments, helpful information and demonstrations for gift ideas” said Pastor Stephen Ammons.
Operation Christmas Child is a project of Samaritan’s Purse, a non-denominational international relief organization.
Alcoa retirees set to meet in Thorndale
Rockdale Alcoa Retirees will meet on Thursday, September 12 at the Thorndale Veteran’s Memorial Hall at 5 p.m. A business meeting will be held at 5:45 p.m.
The dessert group will be last names A-L and a fried fish meal will be $15.

Tiger Boxing Fitness Academy opening soon
Tiger Boxing Fitness Academy is opening its doors over Labor Day weekend at their location inside The Snug building at 121 East Cameron Avenue. Owner Ric Rodriguez said, “The boxing ring is almost complete and we’re putting the finishing touches on everything.”
Rodriguez will offer high-intensity interval training (Hiit), cardioboxing, cardio kickboxing, boot camps and boxing classes.
Attendees will enjoy five exhibition bouts and food catered by Munix Meals and A Southern Touch Soul Food. These events will take place on Sunday.
