DAR to host tea party

Senior Expo is Tuesday, Oct. 29, from 8 a.m. top 1 p.m. at the Yards of Cameron. This event is held for senior citizens and their families to receive resources to help them navigate through this time in their lives.

The Senior Expo will offer blood glucose screenings in the morning so be sure to fast, immunizations, Medicare resources and education, as well as many other vendors to help you.

The event will also include speakers on lady bird wills and scams. The Cameron Lions Club will be there to provide a message in a bottle activity to help emergency services find your information to better help.

Door prizes will be given out every 30 minutes and much more. The Yards of Cameron is located at 301 Adams Ave.

The Daughters of the American Revolution, Three Missions Chapter, in Milam County is having a Tea Party Social to commemorate the 250th anniversary of the Edenton Tea Party of 1774 in which a group of women got together to protest the Tea Tax of 1773.

The Tea Party Social will be held at the Milam County Museum, 112 W. 12th St. in Cameron on October 25 from 10 a.m. to noon.

“Everyone is invited to come and learn about this important event in our nation’s history,” said B.J. Wiseman, spokesperson. “It is an informal, come and go social.”

Tea, and tea cakes made from Martha Washington’s recipes will be served. Information about DAR and the Three Missions Chapter will be available.
