Rockdale Independent School District will host its Winter Wonderland at 5:30 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 12, at Rockdale High School.

Activities include meeting Santa Claus, games, crafts, hot cocoa with cookies, and educational make-and-take activities.

RHS students win big at ATSSB auditions

The Association of Texas Small School Bands (ATSSB) held auditions on Saturday and several Rockdale students made honors.

Adeana Limon was third flute overall, Destinee Bluford was sixth clarinet overall, and Tyler Roberts seventh clarinet overall. These students earned spots in the Wind Ensemble and will advance to the area round in January.

Jose Mora, forth oboe overall, earned a spot in the Symphonic Band and was the only student from a 3A school to audition on oboe.

“These are huge accomplishments for the students Please help me in congratulating them,” said Director of Bands Andrew Quinn.

TM Naturalists classes to begin in January

Texas Master Naturalist Courses begin on Jan. 16, 2025, from 6 to 9 p.m. in Cameron.

“If you are passionate about native Texas plants and animals you are welcome to joins us,” said organizer Linda Burgess.

Attendees will learn how to better manage their property from a wildlife and natural resource conservation perspective and help educate the community.

Class size is limited to 20 students and registration is $150.
