Reminder from the city about trash
Body

Early voting for the May 3 general election for the Rockdale ISD and the Rockdale City Council will began on Tuesday.

Voting takes place in the council chambers at City Hall.

Please use the back entrance of City Hall. Hours are 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday. April 28 and 29 polls are open 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.

There is one Westside position open on city council with three candidates: incumbent Kyle Walker, Taylor Hjorth and Daniel Willie.

For the school board races, Charles Miles will run unopposed for Place 4. Amy Ogea Casas will have a race for her current Place 3 spot against Quin Kearney. Scott Heintze and Brad Ingram will vie for Place 5 on the board.

The City of Rockdale and BVR, who handle the city’s trash pickup, would like to remind residents that the blue BVR trash cart must be on or near the curb for pick up.

Only two bags of trash outside the cart will be picked up. Anything else is considered a bulk item.

Please call City Hall to schedule for the extra bulk item pick up for a fee, or you may participate in curbside pickup or Stash Your Trash which is available once a quarter.

Acres plant exchange

Linwood Acres Garden Club will hold their annual spring plant exchange this Saturday, April 25, at the Rockdale Chamber of Commerce from 9 a.m. to noon.

There will be plants of many varieties and attendees are invited to bring plants to share with others.

“This is a time for sharing plants and plant information, and an excellent opportunity to meet other gardens to ask questions and get answers” said spokesperson Barbara WcWhirter.

Guests are encouraged to come early because the plant selections may not last until noon.
