Matinee Musical Club, Rockdale’s oldest organization, will host First Friday Coffee this Friday, May 2, at the Lucy Hill Patterson Memorial Library. Come and meet Lisa Riggs, the city’s new librarian.
The coffee runs from 9 a.m. to 10:30 p.m. and all are invited.
Day May 10th
National Train Day is May 10, and celebrates the completion of the first transcontinental railway in 1869.
The Rockdale Depot Museum, Hearne Depot and Milam County Railroad Museum in Cameron are collaborating to offer a special day trip to all three museums. Each museum is offering special activities and exhibits.
Rockdale’s special attraction will be Abe Doss doing another metalsmithing demonstration, and snacks and kids crafts on our dining car, the Cheyenne Mountain.
Attendance is free, donations are greatly appreciated.
Each museum will also have a $5 fundraising drawing, with the grand prize being an excursion trip for two with Austin Steam Train Association in Cedar Park, a $100 value, and Rockdale will have runner up prizes as well.
Ticket s are avai lable online through the Depot’s website and in person at the museum, with all proceeds directly benefitting the museum operations and community programming.
Stash Your
Trash to be held Saturday
The city’s quarterly Stash Your Trash event takes place this Saturday, May 3 at Fair Park from 8 a.m. to noon.
No motor oil, tires, batteries, hazardous chemicals, paint or any items which contain refrigerant.
