Local master gardeners to hold program

The 91st annual Citywide Homecoming will be held at the KC Hall on June 8.

This year’s honorees are Charlie McGregor and the RHS Class of 1975.

Coffee and donuts begin at 9 a.m. with class photo being taken at 11 a.m. Program begins at noon and lunch at 12:30 catered by Hecho En Texas Barbecue with brisket, sausage and all the trimmings.

Meal tickets are $20. and can be mailed or dropped off at The Rockdale Reporter through May 27. Checks can also be made by mailing Rockdale Homecoming Association at PO Box 1604 in Rockdale. See insert in this week’s paper.

Little River Basin Master Gardener Association will hold a free educational program, Pollinator Partnership: Changing the Landscape for Monarchs and Bees, from 6 to 7:30 p.m. May 21 at the Milano Civic Center, 120 W. Ave. E.

Attendees will learn how to help protect these vital species through pollinator- friendly gardening, conservation strategies and more.

Clint Walker of Walker Honey will discuss educational and resource tools available to the home gardener from Pollinator Partnership, as well as information on their certification program.

The event is free and open to the public. Light refreshments will be served. A brief LRBMGA membership meeting will follow the presentation.
