Olivares passes first year of USNA
Tatiana Olivares is a plebe no more after graduating her first year of the prestigious U.S. Naval Academy in Annapolis, MD.
Olivares will star t her sophomore year in the fall, which in USNA parlance is called a “youngster.” She has a double major in political science and Spanish. She attended Naval Academy Prep in Newport, RI, in 2024.
She is a 2023 graduate of Rockdale High School where she was involved in National Honor Society, student council, cheerleading, band, FFA and powerlifting.
Olivares is the daughter of Jose and Esmeralda Olivares.
Homecoming set for June 8th
The 91st Annual City of Rockdale Homecoming will be held on Sunday, June 8 at the KC Hall starting at 9 a.m. with coffee and donuts. The lunch and program start at noon. Lunch will be catered by Hecho en Texas Barbecue from Cameron.
This year’s honorees are Charlie McGregor, founder of KRXT Radio and the Class of 1975.
The homecoming event started in 1933 when Ira Perry, rancher and former Rockdale resident, gathered a group at the present- day fairgrounds for a picnic and the attendees started the Rockdale Homecoming Association.
There will be homecoming histories to look through before the meal is served. Tickets are $20 and can be purchased at The Rockdale Reporter.
Tickets need to be purchased by May 27.
