Longhorns visiting park this weekend
Fair Park already looks a lot like Texas but it will really look like the Lone Star state this weekend.
The park will be full of longhorn cattle, as it always is on the last weekend in Texas when the South Texas Longhorn Association brings its annual show to Rockdale.
There are three youth and one open-haltered competitions in the park show barn.
Here’s the schedule:
Friday—Cattle arrive at park, 2 to 5 p.m.; Youth Show A, 6 p.m.
Saturday—Open halter show, with trophy steers, 9 a.m.; Youth Show B, 1 p.m. (time approximate).
Sunday—Cowboy church, 8:30 a.m.; Youth Show B, 9 a.m.
Rockdale VFD prize giveaway Saturday
The annual Rockdale Volunteer Fire Department prize giveaway fund raiser is set for Saturday at the KC Hall, according to Mike Korenek, spokesman.
Korenek said doors open at 5 p.m. with a meal, catered by Lee’s Landing, at 6. “Music is by the Billy Holt Band,” he said.
