Rural burn ban lifted for Milam
Milam County Judge Dave Barkemeyer has lifted the county’s rural outdoor burning ban.
The judge cited recent widespread rainfall as the reason for removing the ban.
About 4 inches has fallen during the past week at the U.S. Weather Service gauge at KRXTFM.
Area fire chiefs ask anyone planning “significant outdoor burning” to notify local fire departments.
Lifting the burn ban only applies in rural area. Municipalities in Milam County have their own, permanent, outdoor burning ban ordinances.
