Alzheimer Day vigil scheduled Friday night
Renaissance Villa is hosting World Alzheimer’s Day activities Friday with a Flashlight Vigil scheduled for 8:30 p.m. downtown.
A. J. Rios, spokesman, said participants are urged to wear purple, put purple cellophane over flashlights and meet in the 100 block of East Cameron (US 79).
“We will have a moment of silence and a prayer for all those who have struggled, or are struggling, with Alzheimer’s Disease,” he said.
There will also be a reception, and silent auction from 2:30 to 3:30 p.m. Friday at Renaissance Villa, 700 Dyer.
Thanksgiving meal meeting Sept. 26th
The next meeting for volunteers planning the Community Outreach Thanksgiving Dinner is set for 6 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 26 at New Hope Baptist Church.
Date for the 2018 meal is Saturday, Nov. 17. Donation deadline is Nov. 13.
No meal was held last year for the first time in almost two decades.
All persons interested are asked to attend the planning session.
