COVID-19 extends RISD holiday break

With the rise in COVID-19 numbers in Milam County and surrounding areas, there is an increase in staff members at Rockdale Independent School district who are either positive or in quarantine due to exposure, according to a news release from the district.

At this time, we are unable to get all our classes covered for instruction so the district is extending the holiday for students through the end of the week with classes resuming Jan. 11.

Students will not have to make up these days.

Milam tax office is temporarily closed

COVID-19 has closed the Milam County tax offices in Rockdale and Cameron to COVID.

Taxes can still be paid on line by credit card or by check and there is a secure drop box at the tax office in Cameron, where payments can be made.

Taxes are still due as scheduled.

Plans are to have the office open again on or about Jan. 19.
