First Friday Coffee to be held at library

Vision Historic Preservation Foundation will be hosting the First Friday Coffee on July 7 from 9 to 10:30 a.m. at the Lucy Hill Patterson Memorial Library.

Free lunches for kids in Rockdale

Feed Rockdale, providing free lunches delivered to children in Rockdale, is now happening. Lunches are delivered Monday through Thursday to all children under 18, who apply. Salazar benefit Saturday at The Ranch

A benefit for Andrea Salazar will be held on Saturday, July 8 at The Ranch from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. which will include $15 barbecue plates, a bake sale and a silent auction.

Salazar was returning to her home from Schreiner University in Kerrville where she represents Rockdale playing basketball for the women’s basketball team. She wasn’t feeling well and stopped at an emergency room.

The following morning, she was diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukemia and has received multiple blood and plasma transfusions and is going through chemotherapy. She will also need to undergo a stem cell or bone marrow transplant.
