The annual non-perishable food drive for Rockdale Christian Services food pantry starts this week and is sponsored by The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.
The church will begin dropping off bags and flyers this week and will pick them up from your porch or mailbox area on Saturday, October 14 starting at 10 a.m.
In addition, tables with posters at the store entrances of Walmart, Brookshire Brothers and Dollar General will be set up to take food donations, Contact Rachel Owens with questions at 512429-1336 or captainneo1@yahoo.com. If any church or organization has a large donation, Owens will pick them up for you.
Senior Center seeks volunteers
Rockdale Senior Center is in need of volunteers to deliver meals on the first and third Wednesday of each month.
The route will take 45 minutes at most. If you feel this is something you’d like to do please call the director, Carolyn Cooper at 512-446-2666.
Thorndale turkey dinner fundraiser
The Thorndale Volunteer Fire Department’s Ladies Auxiliary will host a turkey-and-dressing fundraiser dinner on Sunday, Oct. 15, at the Thorndale Firemen’s Hall.
Serving will begin at 11 a.m. with drive-through or dine-in. Plates are $12 each.
Desserts will be available for a free-will offering.
Davilla Fall Fest Saturday Oct. 14
The Davilla community will hold their annual Fall Fest from 5-9 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 14, at the Davilla Community Center, 20803 North FM 487.
There will be lots of games for the kids as well as bounce houses, a petting zoo and cake walk.
There will be plenty of good fun and goodies as well as a silent auction.
