Come celebrate the City of Rockdale’s 150th birthday with your family, friends and neighbors!
It’s going to be a family friendly event with an opening drone show, then a parade, water events at Fair Park (Big Splash Birthday Bash) along with a car and quilt show, walking tours, books and movies of the decades, unearthing the 1974 time capsule and burying a new 2024 time capsule, and much, much more!
Rockdale ISD has thrown their support behind this event, so we will have entries from all four campuses. Whew! There will be many events to choose from and most are completely free. This year, we are honored to partner with The Rockdale Reporter on this year’s FYI program. This keepsake publication will detail the history of Rockdale as well as the listing, times and locations for each event. We’re grateful to be able to collaborate with our 151-year-old hometown newspaper—it actually predates the city’s birth!
We also have multiple ways for you to support this celebration with as little as $5 donations all the way up to our partnership donation that starts at $5,000. There will be acknowledgments and recognition for all of our higher donation levels. Please give generously if you can.
We think this year is going to be a really spectacular year. We will mark our progress as a community, and the imminent growth that is upon us. Just think, 50 years ago, everyone knew everyone and most of the town was involved. This year, there are lots of new faces and new businesses in town. Who knows what the next 50 years will bring?
A city-wide affair like this hasn't happened since Rockdale's 1974 Centennial. This hometown festival will be one to remember.
