POLICE REPORT

They call it “funny money,” but the kind of counterfeit bills floating around Rockdale during the past week were a little funnier than usual.

“You can look at them and right away see that whichever president is on the bill has a much bigger nose than on the real money portrait,” Lt. Stephen Goodrich said.

“And when you look closely, the words ‘Hollywood Money’ is printed on the bill,” he added. “If you just pay attention its pretty easy to spot.”

But it’s no laughing matter if you get stuck with one of the fake bills.

“We know of a business that’s gotten taken,” Goodrich said. “And we’ve heard of kids with the fake money, trying to pass the bills by asking for change.”

Goodrich said the bills appear to be “stage money” printed for the express purpose of being used in films.
