What an amazing year it has been at RIS! I spent the weekend reflecting on the past year and can’t believe all we have accomplished. We began the school year and soon had to send home two grade levels because of COVID numbers. It honestly feels like this happened two years ago. It’s hard to believe that was part of this school year.
We moved past that and were able to open our classrooms to families for the Christmas parties and haven’t looked back since. Our first large breakfast with families took place in April and we had a huge turnout. Our students were able to showcase their ACE work and enjoy a breakfast with someone who loves them.
Now we are in the week of STAAR testing. The STAAR program is the state standardized assessments given to Texas public school students each year. Students in third, fourth and fifth grades will test in math and reading. Our fifth grade students have an additional test, the STAAR Science test. Our students and teachers have worked so hard to get here. I look forward to seeing just how wonderfully they do.
Students who met specific criteria and goals in our Accelerated Reader program will be treated to an end-of-year Typhoon Texas AR party. This will take place on May 20. Students are so excited to spend a day out of school and at the water park.
During the final week of school, we will be celebrating our students’ success with end-of-year awards where students will be recognized for their academic achievements and more.
It has been a great year and we appreciate you sharing your children with us. We look forward to what the 2022-2023 school year will bring.
