Renaissance Estates & Rehabilitation has made the big move and couldn’t be more excited about it.

“It feels amazing,” said Laura Kunka, who is an owner along with Michael Bumpass, of the new facility on US 79. “We moved all residents

“We moved all residents in two hours,” she said last week of the Oct. 6 move from the old facility on Dyer Street to the new, state-of-the-art 42,981-square-foot facility.

“We served breakfast at Dyer Street and we served lunch over there. Everything went smoothly,” she said.

The new location not only features a larger, family-style dining area for residents, it also has more room for new residents.

There is now room for 84 residents in furnished, double suites with private bathrooms.

“We are already admitting new residents and there is a waiting list for those wishing to get on it,” she said.

In addition to spacious living spaces for residents and an up-to-date therapy center, there are also four large living areas throughout the building that is near Rockdale Intermediate School.

In fact the land the Renaissance is on was purchased from the school district.

Getting to the current location took about four years with the search for a new site starting in January of 2016.

“We had the intent to build a new building. We got the land from Rockdale Independent School District. The city was great to work with,” she said of carrying out the process to make the current facility a reality.

The new facility can meet both short-term and longterm needs.

There is a nursing staff and therapist at the Renaissance. “We are actively looking

“We are actively looking to hire primarily in the nursing area,” she said.

There is also a secure memory care unit at the new location.

“It’s a happy place,” she said. “Residents love the staff. We have a great staff and it’s a great, new building for Rockdale.”
