The Rockdale Reporter won three seconds and one fourth in the Texas Press Association’s annual awards announced last week at the state meeting in Denton.
The Reporter won seconds in feature writing, news photos and page design, and captured a fourth place in editorial writing.
In the editorial category the judge said the top four entries were within a hair of each other.
“It was not easy to decide what order to place them. Excellent job in getting the message out.”
The Reporter winning editorials were “Thanks, readers” published April 30, 2020, and “We Can Do It” published March 26, 2020, and both written by former editor Mike Brown.
The judges in both the news photography and page design categories praised the use of photos in the paper.
The winning feature stories for The Reporter were published Nov. 28, 2019, and May 21, 2020.
