Final filings for the 2024 county Republican Primary elections were released this week by Milam County Clerk Jodi Morgan. The primary voting date is March 5, 2024.
Contested races include Tax Assessor Collector which has three candidates Melissa Fritz, Frank Summers and Stephanie Charanza. For County District Attorney Brian Price and Lonnie Gosch vie for the title as current DA Bill Torrey will be retiring in 2024.
Running for Constable of Pct. 1 are Oscar Lopez and Zach Burks. Constable for Pct. 2 has four candidates vying for the position, Amanda Sanders Duncan, Richard Doug Veach, Candice Staton and Carlton R. Scott.
Uncontested races include Milam County Sheriff Mike Clore, Pct. 1 Commissioner Henry “Hub” Hubnik, District Judge John Youngblood, Pct. 3 Constable Jay Bethard and Pct. 4 Constable Kirby Shoemake.
