Aycock Class of 1959
will attend Juneteenth
In lieu of their annual reunion, the Aycock High School graduating class of 1959 will attend Rock-dale’s Juneteenth observance Saturday and ride in the parade.
Class member Marie Thompson said the Class of 59 produced Aycock’s only school yearbook and had 13 honor graduates out of 28 class members.
That year the Aycock Band went to the Prairie View UIL state contest and had a number of UIL Academics finalists. Their class motto was “Keeping the Dream Alive.”
Thompson said the Back 40 Riderz mounted horseback group from Austin will ride in the parade as a tribute to the Class of 59.
