The Milam County Sheriff’s Office responded just after 7:20 a.m. Monday, April 1, following a phone call to Rockdale Police Department regarding a bomb threat to Rockdale High School.
Rockdale ISD administrators had students and staff sent to Tiger Field. Deputies then conducted a thorough search of the entire campus using bomb sniffing dogs. That search turned up nothing and it was deemed there was no credible threat to students or staff.
Texas DPS began a trace of the number used by the caller, which was found to not be in the area. The scene was cleared in about two hours and students were allowed to return to campus.
Sher i f f Mi ke Clo re reminds the public that though this is April Fools’ Day, this type of threat or hoax is a felony.
