The RHS Golden Girls won sweepstakes in the Heart of Texas Classic last Saturday and the team captain was first runner up in the soloist competition. The drill team’s nine-member squad received Division I rankings for their three dance routines at Ellison High School in Killeen, according to Drill Team Director Gabrieale Boriack.
“We had two returning members and seven girls who had never danced competitively before,” Boriack said. “These girls held their own.” Team captain Tasha San Miguel was first runner up in the soloist competition.
“This was the first time girls have gotten to bring solos to competition in 10 years,” Boriack said.
The Golden Girls will compete Saturday at the Hill Country Classic in New Braunfels.
