The Rockdale High School Library has made many changes over the last few years as we try to offer useful, exciting and modern resources for our students and staff. We have teamed up with Region 6 Education Services and are working towards a united approach to library rules, services and communication throughout the district with ongoing trainings scheduled through next year.
We have many books on hand if you like to feel and turn the pages yourself and have Destiny book search by subject, author or title to help you find something you will love. If ebooks are your thing, we have increased our inventory of ebooks and Online Learning Resources. Our TexQuest Navigator will help you find resources for learning, studying, ebooks, videos or just fun and games for all ages. This includes Britannica School, Learning Express Library, EBSCO ebooks, Gale Chilton Library, Gale Literature, National Geographic for kids, Learn 360, Teaching Books and more. The Navigator makes it easy to find just what you are looking for by age and subject. Contact your school librarian for more information.
The high school library currently displays “The Latest Popular Series” featuring well known authors, “Is Truth Stranger than Fiction?” displays many challenging true stories, and “Revisit Your Childhood” shows classic favorites from when the students were little. Students can stop by before or after school, during lunch or during class with a pass from their teacher. An effort to re-enforce what the classroom teachers are teaching by pulling books on special topics, finding online supplementary resources or making special displays are ways the library can continue to serve our school.
We are starting a book and DVD donation drop. If you have family- friendly books or movies that you no longer read or watch and would like to donate, please drop them off at the high school library. There is already a place for students and/or staff to pick up a free book from the donation shelf. We have a small amount of DVD’s already available for checkout but we are looking to grow this opportunity.
