Rockdale High School teacher Michael Smith, 40, Caldwell, was arrested on Friday for making a threat on a school web page associated with the school anonymously.
Milam County Sheriff Mike Clore said the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the United States Secret Service assisted in tracking down the IP address used to make the threats and warrants were obtained related to the address. Investigators interviewed that teacher on campus, where it was admitted the threat had been made. That teacher was arrested on charge of terroristic threat causing public fear of serious bodily injury and making a false report.
Clore thanked Rockdale ISD for their quick action in alerting the authorities when the threat came to light. Clore said Rockdale ISD is cooperating with the investigation and the partnership between his office and the district is strengthened thanks to their priorities toward school safety.
Smith was held in Milam County Jail with bail set at $50,000. He was released on Saturday at noon.
