Professional development plans are in the early stages.
TEACHER INCENTIVE— Kathy Pelzel, director of intervention, gave an update about the Teacher Incentive Allotment (TIA). The Teacher Incentive Allotment is a state-funded program to provide monetary incentives to classroom teachers that exhibit highly effective performance. Pelzel shared information about the committee members, the committee meetings, components of the program and a timeline of the TIA application process.
CAMPUS UPDATES— Campus principals and the athletic director also gave updates. The campuses shared their Texas Public Schools Weeks activities as well as benchmark testing results.
NEW COACHES— New Athletic Director Hunter Hamrick introduced two new coaches to the board and gave updates about spring sports including the Rockdale Relays, state powerlifting, baseball and softball updates.

In other news:
• The board approved a motion for acceptance of Certification of Unopposed Candidates and approval of an order canceling the May 6 trustee election and declaring each unopposed candidate, Julia Cardona and Janice Keen, elected to office.
• The board approved to amend the Rockdale ISD District of Innovation Plan to define the minimum service for 10-month contract employees to not exceed 187 days nor be less than 180 days.
RISD believes that reducing teacher contract days from 187 to a decreased length with no effect on teacher salary would enhance teacher recruitment and retention allowing the district to fill positions with highly qualified teachers.
