Rockdale ISD trustees on Monday, meeting in regular session in the Central Administration Building, congratulated the district’s Tiger Learning Center for receiving formal accreditation by the National Association for the Education of Young Children.

The learning center provides early childhood education for children of RISD employees, infants through pre-K.

Supt. Dr. Denise Monzingo said to receive accreditation programs are required to meet standards in 10 areas .

Trustees learned the Rockdale program had earned an adjusted score of 100 percent in all 10 standards.

Trustees congratulated the Tiger Learning Center for two years of work toward the accreditation accomplishment.

Staffers are: Piedra Flores, director; Jamie Henderson, infants; Emelia Seda, toddlers; Erika Robertson, pre-school.

Trustees were told the Tiger Learning Center also received an Excellence in Early Education Award from Workforce Solutions of Central Texas. The award will be presented in a Friday luncheon.

PERSONNEL—Board members approved the following hires:

• Sarah Smith, instructional aide, elementary.

• Jordan Bell, instructional aide, junior-high

• Erika Howard, custodian, junior-high.

• Owen “Wade” Jeffcoat, maintenance.

• Otto Harris, grounds.

In other business, trustees:

• Approved changes to the special education shared services arrangement between the RISD and Burleson-Milam Special Services Co-OP.

• Accepted the annual audit presented by Belt, Harris, Pechacek LLP.

• Recognized Human Resources Specialist Christy Betchan’s work “to support the faculty and staff of the Rockdale ISD.”
