Rockdale High School announces the appointment of Andrew Quinn as the new band director for the upcoming school year, suc ceeding Adrian Acevedo who is retiring after 14 years as Director of Bands in Rockdale. Quinn, currently finishing the school year at Bryan ISD, brings a wealth of experience and enthusiasm to the Rockdale ISD music program.

Prior to teaching at Bryan ISD, Quinn earned a bachelor’s degree in music from the University of Colorado at Boulder and a Master’s degree in Music from the University of South Dakota. With over nine years of experience in education, the 2024-25 school year at Rockdale High School will mark a decade of working in education for Quinn.

As a skilled brass player with the euphonium as his main instrument, Quinn is excited to join Rockdale ISD and contribute to the vibrant music culture of the district. “There is a lot of excitement and energy in Rockdale for what is coming with the future but a lot of strong traditions,” says Andrew. “I am super excited to have the opportunity to help guide students in being a part of that experience and to set up a high-performing, exciting, and entertaining band program that the school and community can be proud of.”

Throughout his career, Quinn has achieved notable successes, including presenting at two state conferences on the importance of quality music education for all students and leading his students to the State Concert Band Contest in New Mexico.

“We are thrilled to welcome Andrew to our school community,” said Superintendent Dr. Denise Monzingo. “With his expertise and dedication, we look forward to seeing our band program thrive and inspire our students to achieve their musical potential.”

Quinn is currently pursuing National Board Teacher Certification and is eager to bring his passion for music education to Rockdale High School.
