Genella Korenek, Finance Director, presented the Financial Integrity System of Texas (FIRST) report for Rockdale ISD. Rockdale ISD scored a 90 which is a Superior Rating.

Dr. Monzingo presented the State of the District Report, highlighting hot topics like ESSER Funds, new on-site telemed clinics partnering with Health-Point and state testing to move to online testing.

Some highlights in the State of the District report included the state accountability system, the Principal Institute, Portrait of an RHS Graduate, program changes with dyslexia, English as a second language, gifted and talented, redesign of communication plan, creating the superintendent advisory board and free breakfast and lunch for all students.

Community-based highlights included the Distinguished Alumni Awards Program, Trunk or Treat, FAFSA nights, and an emphasis on community service.

Instructional highlights for each campus were reviewed. Some mentioned include strong phonics, Reading Academy, small group instruction, behavior programs, targeted intervention, electives for high school credit offered at middle school, One Act Play returns to RHS, Texas BioScience Institute and pre-education teacher internships.

The board approved the addition, revision, and deletion of (LOCAL) policies as recommended by TASB Policy Service and according to the Instruction Sheet for TASB Localized Policy Manual Update 118.

The board also approved the resolution and official ballot casting 923 total votes to be divided as follows: 462 to Tim Arledge and 461 to Lisa Gerthe.

The board approved the FIRST report for rating year 2020-21 as presented. The board declined an offer of right of first refusal for the purchase of the property described in the Board’s agenda for this board meeting.

The board was informed of the following new hires: certified personnel hires, Kristy Kaufmann as ACE coordinator; non-certified personnel hires, Gracey Burns, at-risk aide; Kathryn Dudley, food service; Tracy Mireles, principal’s secretary.

The board was informed of the following resignations: non-certified personnel resignations, Bertha Stewart, principal’s secretary; Brittin Mulligan, at-risk aide; and Mathew Chapman, grounds keeper.
