The first component of Rockdale’s new 2050 Comprehensive Plan was crafting a new Community Vision Statement. This vision statement serves as a rallying point from which the city will measure decisions – whether or not something advances the Vision or not.

“We envision Rockdale as a strong, resilient city which celebrates its fighting spirit and takes pride in its history, culture and access to nature. Rockdale will be a place worth visiting, living in, working in and staying in – a place which people will choose.”

Rockdale’s new Vision Statement highlights the city’s commitment to preserving its rich history, diverse culture and abundant access to nature. The tagline “A Stone’s Throw Away” is meant to convey how close Rockdale is to many things: nature and urban amenities, education and culture, well-paying jobs with a small-town feel.

Through collaboration and forward-thinking initiatives, Rockdale aims to transform itself into a vibrant destination, offering an unparalleled quality of life for residents and visitors alike.

The new comprehensive plan document is available for download from the website RockdaleMidCenturyPlans. com.

“We invite the community to read over the plan and give us your thoughts and comments,” said Rockdale City Manager Barbara Holly.

Plan comment s a re being accepted until June 3.
