The City of Rockdale and the Rockdale Municipal Development District (RMDD) have been working with Freese & Nichols Consultants on a new Comprehensive Plan. This document will plan Rockdale’s future desired state to the year 2050.
The city has tried to elicit feedback from the community to help write the plan. One community survey and one park survey were released. The city established an advisory committee to provide guidance on the plan’s creation. The planners set up at the May Chamber on Tap at the East Bell Taphouse to ask questions. A series of community stakeholder meetings were held. Finally, an open house was held in August 2023 to discuss the plan.
“The city and RMDD are excited to announce that all the work preparing the document is done and now it’s time for the public to review the plan and give feedback, said Rockdale MDD Economic Director Jim Gibson.
The draft plan is available on the website RockdaleMidCenturyPlans. com for download.
“We would encourage all Rockdale residents to read over the plan and tell us what you think,” said Rockdale City Manager Barbara Holly. “Comprehensive plans are very important as they act as a road map to the future and help shape many decisions.”
Work on the plan started in February 2023 and the plan should go to the Rockdale City Council for adoption in June and July 2024.
