Rockdale’s tax returns from the state’s comptroller’s office released earlier this month continue to increase over the month before and out pace totals from last year at this time.

The returns for the month of April were more than 30 percent better than in March and for the year, Rockdale numbers are up almost 11 and a half percent over last year at this time.

The Rockdale Municipal Development District continues to improve also.

Its monthly gains are increasing over prior months, but the year-to-date total is barely above where it was last year at this time.

Milam County performed better than last month by almost 50%, but still lags last year’s numbers by almost 25%.

Milano was the big winner when it come to monthly sales tax gains.

Receipts in that town went up almost 85% over the March numbers, while the overall all yearly numbers this year is out pacing last year by a little more than 36 percent.

Buckholts also showed a big gain in April over March with a more than 45% better total.
