Rockdale’s tax returns from the state’s comptroller’s office released in August for the month of June continue to increase over the month before and outpace totals from last year at this time.

Rockdale got $94,262 back from sales tax receipts which was almost 5 percent better than the May total.

On the year the returns to the city amounted to an almost 10 percent increase over the past year-to-date numbers.

Milam County didn’t fare quite as well as Rockdale with the monthly numbers showing an increase but the year-to-date figures still lagging behind last year’s COVID-19 effected economy.

Lexington in Lee County continues its strong performance half way into 2021 with a very near 34 percent increase over May numbers and doing almost 18 percent better in the year-to-date total.

Milano also remains strong in both monthly and year-to-date numbers, showing an almost 18 percent increase over May with the year-to-date improvement of 34.44 percent.

Rockdale Municipal Development Districts also remains in the black for both monthly and year-to-date figures.

Cameron numbers dropped a bit in June from May, but overall all is still improving from last year.

Lee County continues to struggle in sales tax returns and is in the red in both monthly and year-to-date totals.
